Composer, cellist and singer Dom La Nena was born in Brazil and began studying music at age five. After training in classical cello in Buenos Aires and Paris, she toured with artists including Jane Birkin, Jeanne Moreau, Étienne Daho, Camille, Sophie Hunger, Le Grande Sophie and Piers Faccini.
Her solo albums have received international acclaim from The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, BBC, NPR and The Guardian. Since 2013, she has performed at leading venues and festivals including the Philharmonie de Paris, Vienna Konzerthaus, Barbican Centre, Southbank Centre and Montreal International Jazz Festival.
In 2021, she was nominated for a Victoire du Jazz for her album Tempo. That same year, the Musée d’Orsay invited her to create a carte blanche, where she composed new music for films by Germaine Dulac. She has since developed an acclaimed career as a film composer, writing scores for documentaries, feature films and television, including On Ira, La Vie de Ma Mère, Ceux qui rougissent and Le Chant des Forêts, for which she received the Lumière Award for Best Original Score.
In 2025, she performed as a soloist at the Concert de Paris beneath the Eiffel Tower with the Orchestre National de France.
Since 2012, Dom has also formed Birds on a Wire with singer Rosemary Standley. The duo has toured extensively across Europe, released three acclaimed albums, and collaborated with artists and institutions including Valentino, the Louvre, Arte, the Maîtrise de Radio France and Philippe Jaroussky.
Dom La Nena’s work moves fluidly between classical music, songwriting, film and multidisciplinary performance, establishing her as a distinctive voice on the international contemporary music scene.
